Wings

Though young men faint and grow weary, and youths stagger and fall, They that hope in the Lord will renew their strength, they will soar as with eagles' wings; They will run and not grow weary, walk and not grow faint.

In difficult days, when we find ourselves staggering, falling, succumbing to the trials in our life and failing to be the person we most desperately wish to be, I find myself turning to this passage from Isiah 40 over and over again.

There is such dichotemy in this passage - those that faint ande grow weary, stagger and fall, and those that soar and run, and are free of burden and sin.

It seems so simple, doesn't it? Those that soar free from their burdens have hope. Hope in God and their Lord that gives them strength to carry on no matter what trials or tribulations they face.

Do you have that hope? When you face difficulty, persecution, depression, anger, failure, fear, do you have hope? In someone? Something? Where do you find your hope? Does it set you free from burden? Does it lift your cross from your shoulders and allow you to walk free? As you reach out from the dust and dirt of a hardscrabble road, cut and bruised from your fall, does your hope set your soul afire with honesty and love? How do you sustain your hope?

For me, I find my peace and hope in God, when I've courage enough to surrender my will and ask him for help and assistance. Where does your peace come from?
