Knick Knack and Reflection

Friday is already upon us, and I feel that so much remains unfinished. Today, at least, I will have a slight respite from my stress as I will be departing work after lunch. Thankfully, I leave to visit Maria, my stylist. She'll perform her magic, and I will all of a sudden appear glamorous again. After a nice dinner with Jillian, I'll be heading to the train station in Harrisburg where I'll catch the train to Philadelphia to work on my consulting company for the weekend. I expect to be there until Sunday night, though perhaps I will leave a bit earlier.

During my time there I hope to complete the company's operating agreement, and the first two to three portions of its business plan. It is a tall order, but one I think reachable.

I found this last night in Jeremiah, 10: 24-25

See, days are coming, says the Lord, when I will command an account of all those circumcised in their flesh. Egypt and Judah, Edom and the Ammonites, Moab and the desert dwellers who shave their temples. For all these nations, like the whole house of Israel, are uncircumcised in heart.

I am shaken at my core, not because I am Catholic or happen to be circumcised, but because this message's moral is so clear - our outward appearences mean nothing if our hearts are corrupted and black.

How many times have we worn masks to keep our own comfort, or have we lied to save face? Do you, like me, consistently choose wrong over right, but then do whatever it takes to make right look wrong? I feel this message in my heart, not because I'm Christian but because it is a message for all people - who you are means nothing unless you express what truly lives in your heart. For all our laughter and smiles, if deceit lives in our heart then so we be.

It is not who you see me to be, but what I am that is most crucial to living a healthy and happy life - a message for all people, of whatever faith, that cannot be ignored!
